SEX CHAT CHARGES FOR MAN

Charles Taranow, a New York City sanitation worker from Brooklyn, was arraigned yesterday on charges that he had sexually explicit online chats with people he thought were children and offered one of them $100 for sex.  Taranow thought the Nassau investigators he was e-mailing over the past year were 14 and 15 year old girls.  He also had a phone conversation with an investigator this month in which he offered her money for sex, thinking she was 14.  He was charged with three counts of first degree attempted disseminating indecent material to minors, a felony; fourth degree criminal solicitation, a misdemeanor; and third degree patronizing a prostitute, a misdemeanor.  He is being held on $5,000 bail.
