SEX OFFENDER ACCUSED OF SPREADING HIV (Cyber-Lovers Not Informed of Suspect’s Infection)

Marvin Clifford Nowell, a 36 year old registered sex offender, trolled the Internet chat rooms looking for companionship and allegedly exposed six women in three weeks to the HIV virus and could have other victims.  He could be charged with assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly telling a Texas woman he was HIV-positive after having unprotected sex with her.  He repeated the scenario with five other women in Kentucky.  Nowell served 10 years of a 30 year Texas sentence for the 1986 rape and beating of a 15 year old girl.  He fled Texas in mid-December after a warrant was issued for his arrest December 1 for violating his parole.  He is presently in the custody of the US Marshals Service in LaGrange, Kentucky, awaiting extradition to Texas while authorities here and in Kentucky try to learn whether he has had encounters with additional women.
