SODOMIZED TEEN AWARDED $10M (Jury faults camp; Post settles)

Michael Allen, 24, was convicted of sodomizing a 12 year old boy during sleepover camp in OldBrookville last year. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison after being referred to by the judgeas a predatory animal. Police said that in July of 1999 Allen slipped into the boy's dorm room ata C.W. Post baseball camp, threw a towel over his head and sodomized him at knifepoint. Police saidthat he also sodomized other boys in their dorm rooms at a Dutchess County boarding school and aNew Jersey prep school. Allen pleaded guilty to breaking into the dorm room. He has been sentencedto 20 years. The sentences will run concurrently.

A Nassau jury yesterday awarded $10 million in damages to the teenager who was sodomized. Theverdict, handed up yesterday afternoon after fewer than two hours of deliberation, ended a $21million lawsuit brought by the boy and his parents against the school and All Star Baseball Camp inBrookville.
