STATE EFFORT TARGETS CHILD ABDUCTIONS

A statewide effort to prevent kidnappings will begin Monday as officials distribute videos and child identification kits throughout Connecticut.  Many local police departments and Department of Motor Vehicles branches will have the emergency packets available to parents this week.  Each includes spaces to keep recent photos of a child, hair for possible DNA sampling, an updated description and fingerprinting information.  This new awareness campaign, dubbed Connecticut's first Child Abduction Prevention Week, comes after a rash of high-profile kidnappings across the country.
