SUFFOLK POLICE: 8 SEX OFFENDERS ARRESTED FOR PAROLE, PROBATION VIOLATIONS UNDER COMMUNITY PROTECTION ACT

More than half-dozen convicted sex offenders are back behind bars as part of a brand newmeasure designed to protect communities from predators.  Eight registered sex offenders havebeen arrested for various parole and probation violations, such as using social media or failing toupdate their address and picture with the New York State Sex Offender Registry.  The arrestscame just weeks after the county implemented the Community Protection Act, which allows Parents forMegan's Law to act for police by monitoring offenders' online activity, verifying their addressesand streamlining that information for police.
