BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — Two people were arrested and jailed January 1 after a juvenile told Berkeley County Sheriff's Office investigators the couple sexually abused them for several years.
Brian Langevin, 33, and Amanda Langevin, 34, of Summerville, have been charged with second degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, jail records show.
According to an arrest report provided by the sheriff's office, the pair were charged after a person came forward on behalf of the minor victim to alert authorities of potential abuse.
The whistleblower told investigators the minor had recently confided in them details of ongoing sexual assaults.
When deputies went to investigate on Dec. 31, they say the victim accused Brian Langevin of repeated sexual assaults over the past several years, the most recent instance being earlier that morning.
Additionally, the juvenile told deputies Amanda Langevin would sometimes engage in the sexual battery.
Deputies say the juvenile told them the Langevins continued the sexual abuse even after being asked to stop in the past.
The Langevins are being held in the Berkeley County Detention Center without bond.
