TEACHER ARRESTED ON CHILD PORN CHARGE

Robert Ruggiero, a 25 year old teacher on leave from Oceanside Middle School, has been arrested by federal agents on a charge of buying and distributing child pornography over the Internet.  He was arraigned in federal District Court in Central Islip on Friday.  He paid $60 for what he thought were videos of pre-teenage girls engaged in sexual activities and sent similar pictures he had over the Internet.  He was released on Friday on $100,000 bail pending further hearings by federal Magistrate Michael Orenstein.
