JOLIET, IL — A 39-year-old Joliet resident who remains at large faces three counts of sexual assault against a family member who is a minor and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault. Lonnie Ray Ward junior also faces one charge of unlawful restraint and one charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
The seven criminal charges stem from a recent Joliet Police Department investigation.
A bench warrant was issued last week for Ward's capture; Will County Judge Daniel Kennedy set bail at $1 million.
According to court records, Joliet Police believe Ward committed several sex crimes against a family member on the following dates: May 1, May 7, May 20, Aug. 10 and Oct. 7.
Ward shows an address in the 200 block of Illinois Street and he is unemployed, according to court documents. Of note, Ward just posted 10 percent of a $20,000 bail to get out of the Will County Jail on Oct. 17 for an unrelated offense.
Back on Oct. 8, Joliet Police officers arrested Ward on a charge of violating an order of protection. The Will County State's Attorney's Office did not file the criminal sexual assault against Ward until Oct. 29.
