YOUTH LEADER BUSTED AS PERV

James Kimp, a 31 year old head of a Long Island youth group, has been busted for impersonating a cop and failing to register as a convicted sex offender.  Kimp showed a phony badge to a Hempstead park employee May 7 and claimed to be a Missing Persons Squad detective looking for a 9 year old boy from the youth group.  The worker became suspicious and asked for a police photo identification but he showed her a North Carolina driver's license instead.  She phone police, who investigated and arrested him.  Kimp was arrested in 1995 for sexually abusing a 9 year old boy while acting as a Big Brother in a church program.  He was arrested a second time last year for failure to register his address as a sex offender.  Anyone with information on Kimp is asked to call the Special Victims' Squad at (516)573-8055.  All calls will be kept confidential.
