Bullitt man facing child sex offense charges
A Bullitt County man is facing 42 charges related to child pornography after he was arrested Wednesday by the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch.
Richard D. Metzroth, 49, of Shepherdsville, was booked into the Bullitt County Detention Center on charges related to child sexual abuse material.
Metzroth was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation, according to a KSP news release. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect reportedly sharing images of child sexual exploitation online.
The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant Wednesday at a residence in Wednesday. Equipment was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.
Metzroth is charged with 20 counts of possession of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance under 12 years of age a Class C felony punishable by five to ten years in prison, if convicted; 20 counts of possession of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance over 12 years of age and two counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance — Class D felonies punishable by one to five years in prison, if convicted, according to the release.
