In the six weeks since Sarah Payne went missing, there have been eleven children murdered.  These childrens' deaths went unnoticed by the outside world with no media attention.  The deaths of these children were by their parents.  The parents who were responsible for protecting them took their lives instead.  Included are Oren and Lewis Jackson who were tucked into the same bed in their pajamas, murdered by their mother who then hanged herself from the bedroom door.

For more than 30 years the number of children murdered by strangers has remained between five and seven each year.  Murders in the UK that are carried out by the victim's parent is 10%.  According to BBC Newsnight, police figures show between 70 and 80 cases a year and it is believed by experts that there are far more.
