HISTORY OF MISCONDUCT

George Crear was a beloved high school music teacher, whom authorities say sexually abused his students.  Crear was molesting his female students and continued to do so for a 10-year period, during which he went from on state to another, repeating this abusive behavior.  His obsession may have even led to assault and even suicide in one case.  Even with parental concerns and student complaints, school officials failed to stop Crear.  The Flint, Michigan school board made a quiet deal and buried the charges in exchange for his resignation.  It took the testimony of a former student ten years after she was abused by him to finally put an end to his vicious cycle.   Michigan jury found him guilty of criminal sexual misconduct in the first degree and he was sentenced to the maximum penalty of life in prison.
