MAN GUILTY OF RAPING CHILD

Tony Randall McKinney, a 40-year-old Guilford Township man, is accused of raping a 6-year-old boy.  He pleaded guilty to one count of rape as part of a plea bargain.  The plea was entered after prosecutors agreed to drop the charged for a sexual predator specification, which carries a life sentence.  The rape charge, a first-degree felony, carries a penalty of three to 10 years in prison.  According to the Beacon Journal, in the deal, attorneys agreed to a seven-year sentence, but prosecutors say they will recommend that McKinney be labeled a sexual predator.  If he is ruled a predator, he would have to register his residency with the local sheriff's department for life wherever he lives and the department would be required to notify neighbors and schools of his status.
