MAN HELD IN RAPE

PFMLIT FAMILY FRIEND ACQUAINTANCE, General, SEX OFFENDERS AND OTHERS IN POSITIONS OF TRUST

Oscar Hernandez Romero, a 22 year old Queens man, was arrested August 18 on charges of statutory rape after taking a 15 year old girl to an Oceanside motel and having sex with her.  Romero, of 86-47 164th Street, Jamaica, is a friend of the girl's family.  The girl was not forced into having sex but she is younger than 17, the age of consent.  He is charged with third degree rape and was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead.  He is being held on $50,000 bond or $25,000 cash bail.
