NEW JERSEY JURY NAILS PERV IN TEEN’S MURDER-DUMP

Miguel Figueroa, 32, was found guilty of first degree murder yesterday in the rape and stabbing death of 13 year old Shaline Seguinot, whose body was found behind a Camden school in 1995.  Figueroa will not face the death penalty because the jury of nine women and three men could not reach an unanimous decision of whether the defendant committed the murder by his own conduct.  Shaline disappeared August 4, 1995, while riding her bicycle near her grandmother's Camden home.  Her naked body was found three days later in the weeds behind Pyne Point Middle School.  Investigators held off charging him with the murder until DNA tests in January 2000 linked him to her sexual assault.
