ROY’S STATE BILL: MAKE SCHOOLS REPORT SEX CASES

Republican State Senator Roy Goodman proposed a state law yesterday requiring school officials to report allegations of sexual abuse to the district attorney.  He said the bill is drafted in response to charges that a second grade teacher in the Bronx sexually abused several students after school officials and investigators failed to report prior allegations to cops.  School officials and staffers would also be charged with a misdemeanor for failing to report sex abuse complaints to prosecutors.  On Tuesday, city officials announced a proposed law that would make it a crime for school employees to fail to report sex crimes.
