SHELBY COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH 11 SEX CRIMES INCLUDING TORTURE OF A CHILD; BOND SET AT $ 692,000

A Shelby County man is jailed on more than a half-million bond, accused of nearly a dozen sex crimes.
Sergio Anselmo-Cruz, 43, is charged with sexual torture of a child, two counts of first-degree rape, three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, three counts of sexual abuse of a child and two counts of chemical endangerment of a child.
Authorities, in court records made public Tuesday, contend the Inverness Landings man sexually assaulted a child with a purple plastic toy and also offered to allow a minor to “sniff white power” believed by investigators to be cocaine.
The alleged assaults happened between 2014 and 2020, charging documents state. The 11 charges against him are for two different victims who are not his children. The cases were investigated by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
Anselmo-Cruz was arrested Monday by the U.S. Marshals. He is being held in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $692,000.
