Walmart Donates 5k to Help Support Child Sexual Abuse Prevention and Services for Victims

October 2016 - Laura A. Ahearn, L.M.S.W., J.D., Executive Director of Parents for Megan’s Law and the Crime Victim Center announced today a generous five thousand dollar donation from Walmart Stores, Inc. to assist the agency in supporting its child sexual abuse and adult rape and domestic violence prevention education and community support programs, and its crime victim support services programs. “On behalf of all of our Long Island stores, associates and customers, we’re very pleased and proud to be able to continue to support the vital work of Parents for Megan’s Law on violence prevention, education and community support,” said Jason Klipa, Walmart Director of Public Affairs.

As seen in the picture, David Laufer, representing Walmart, presented the check to Laura Ahearn on Thursday, October 13th at the organization’s Ronkonkoma office. In addition, the Centereach Long Island Walmart store donated an XBOX to the organization for their 2016 Champion Award Gala fundraiser, and the Central Islip Walmart donated a $100.00 gift card. The December 8, 2016 Gala will honor lawmakers, members of the community, and law enforcement who have made significant contributions to preventing sexual assault and domestic violence. Parents for Megan’s Law and the Crime Victims Center is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse and rape, the provision of services to victims of violent crime, and elderly, disabled, and minor victims of all crime.
