The Rev. James L. Bevel, a 71 iconic civil-rights figure, was convicted of incest yesterdayafter a jury concluded that he had sex with his teenage daughter 15 years ago. Bevel, a toplieutenant to Martin Luther King Jr. who helped organize the 1965 march on Selma and later theMillion Man March, faces up to 20 years in prison at sentencing. Bevel's daughter testified thatshe was repeatedly molested beginning when she was 6, culminating in an act of sexual intercoursein 1993 or 1994 that formed the basis of the incest charge.
