CASSANDRA KENNEDY ADMITS LYING ABOUT FATHER RAPING HER, MAN RELEASED FROM PRISON AFTER NINE YEARS

In 2001, 11 year old Cassandra Ann Kennedy, told a judge that her father raped her, sendinghim to prison for nine years.  Today, at the age of 23, she admits that she lied.  Shesays she made up the story because she was upset with her father following her parents'divorce.  The father, Thomas Edward Kennedy, now 43, was released.  He was serving a 15year prison term.  All charges have been dropped.  The county will not take legal actionagainst Cassandra partly because authorities do not want to discourage individuals in similarcircumstances from stepping forward.
