CHILD-PORN INTERNET CASE NETS 71 ARRESTS IN METRO AREA

Federal and state investigators have netted 70 men and one woman from the metropolitan areain a fast moving investigation of Internet child pornography, the largest such probe everundertaken locally.  The majority of the 71 arrested were from New York City, including arabbi, police officer and paramedic from Queens, as well as a police chief from Westchester. Four of those arrested are Nassau County residents.  Officials seized more than 10,000 childpornography images and 600 pieces of computer devices used in circulating the material.  NYPDcomputer experts were credited with making more than 24 of the cases.  Investigators began theinvestigation, dubbed Operation Caireen late in 2013 after they became concerned about aproliferation of online child porn here.
