CONVICTED MOLESTER CAUGHT WITH MISSING TEEN

James Samuel Copper, 47, is a convicted sex offender who is accused of abducting his teenage daughter's best friend.  Copper was arrested in California after being detained by a San Bernadino County sheriff's deputy for a routine license plate check that revealed he was the subject of a two-day manhunt with outstanding warrants.  The warrants are for child abduction in Illinois and child molestation

and battery in Indiana.  He is accused of abducting 14 year old Alexis Dominique Bendt.  She was with Copper at the time of his arrest and taken into custody unharmed.  He tried to identify Bendt as his daughter, Dianna, then he struggled with police briefly before he was arrested.  He is being held on $500,000 bond.
