GUILTY PLEA IN PORN CASE

Ray Mastandrea, a 51-year-old Levittown man, met a 14-year-old Lincoln, Nebraska girl, in a chat room and had been contacting her by phone and the Internet.  The girl said he told her he was 17.  Mastandrea was arrested and accused of using the Internet to convince the girl to make a pornographic videotape of herself.  She made the tape August 9, 2000 at a neighbor's home where she was babysitting two 10-year-old twins, a 5-year-old boy and her 12-year-old brother.  She used the home computer to contact Mastandrea and she made her brother videotape her performing sexual acts.  One of the 10 year olds later informed his parents about the video, who then contacted police.  He was ordered held without bail as a danger to the community.  He is charged with enticing a minor to engage in producing pictures of sexually explicit conduct that would be transported in interstate commerce.  He would have faced up to 10 years in prison if convicted.  Mastandrea coached a Police Athletic League girls team but there is no evidence that he had acted improperly with any of the girls he coached.

Mastandrea pleaded guilty yesterday to using the Internet to convince the girl to make the pornographic videotape of herself.  When sentenced on charges of enticing a minor to engage in producing pictures of sexually explicit conduct that would be transported in interstate commerce, he faces between 151 and 188 months in prison.
