An Iowa man was extradited to Callaway County on Thursday following a bi-state investigation for child sex crimes.
On June 19, Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Wilson charged David Dodds, 58, of Corydon, Iowa, with five felony counts of sexual misconduct with a child younger than 15.
Dodds is a registered sex offender in Iowa based on prior convictions.
The aforementioned charges are the result of an extensive investigation conducted by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the Wayne County, Iowa Sheriff's Office, according to a CCSO press release.
The investigation was initiated by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office in March, when the CCSO was informed of Dodds' alleged contact with a child victim in Callaway County.
Subsequently, a Callaway County Sheriff's Office investigator traveled to Iowa on June 19, leading to the arrest of Dodds by the Wayne County, Iowa Sheriff's Office on that date.
On Thursday, Dodds was extradited from Iowa to the Callaway County Jail where he remains in custody without bond, pending further court bond review and assessment.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible, the CCSO added.
