WEXFORD COUNTY, MI – A 36-year-old man is charged with two crimes related to an alleged “inappropriate relationship” with a child between the ages of 13 and 15.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post began investigating in October after the victim’s parent reported the alleged inappropriate relationship with a then-35-year-old man, according to a MSP news release. Police obtained warrants and searched the victim’s and suspect’s phones.
Christopher Michael Woodbury, 36, of Boon, was arrested on Dec. 23, police said. On Dec. 28, he was arraigned on charges of accosting a child for immoral purposes and fourth degree criminal sexual conduct. He was given a $25,000 cash/surety bond and remains lodged at the Wexford County Jail. Woodbury’s next court appearance is set for 2 p.m. on Jan. 12 in the 84th District Court of Wexford County.
Accosting a child for immoral purposes is a felony punishable by up to four years in prison, a $4,000 fine, or both. Fourth degree CSC, which involves sexual contact but not penetration, is a misdemeanor punishable by up to two years imprisonment, a $500 fine, or both.
