NOT GUILTY IN SEX TRIAL (Syosst mom is acquitted of final charge in case that accused her of sexually abusing her three children when they were younger)
Newsday/Ann Givens
In between car pools and karate classes, Nassau prosecutors say one Syosset mother was doingunspeakable things to her three children. The 53 year old woman, whose trial on childmolestation charges began on September 11, 2008, in Nassau County Court, was molesting her youngestdaughter with a Barbie doll, and forcing her older children to play tug-of-war naked and then haveoral sex while she watched. Years after his eldest daughter began suffering from severedepression and psychotic delusions, the father got an upsetting call from a doctor at the upstatefacility where the young woman was living. He said she was not bipolar or schizophrenic, butthat she was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder because of psychological and sexualabuse by her mother, he said. The man, 55, a gynecologist, testified at his ex-wife'strial. The children who were between the ages of 6 and 11 when authorities say the abuseoccurred from 1996 to 1999, are now ages 17, 20 and 24. The man became visibly exasperated onthe witness stand, denying that he pressured a psychiatric facility to say his daughter wassexually abused in order to win a heated custody battle. If the mother is convicted, shecould be sentenced to a maximum of 7 to 21 years in prison.
On October 14, the mom was found not guilty.
