PARENTS IN BRENTWOOD FEAR FOR TEENS (Concerns prompted after word spreads that convicted sex offender rearrsted in December had contact with area youths)

Worry was the dominant feeling among Brentwood parents after hearing that a convicted sexoffender with HIV has had contact with teenagers in the area.  Brentwood school authoritiessay they believe as many as 20 teenage students in the district have had contact, and in some casessexual relations, with Robert Musmacker, 36, of Oceanside.  Musmacker, whose six year prisonterm for first degree sodomy ended in 1998, was arrested again December 28th in West Babylon, aftera state trooper stopped him for speeding and noticed that his belt buckle was undone and that hehad a 16 year old male passenger in his car.  He was charged with reckless endangerment,committing a criminal sex act, endangering the welfare of a child and several trafficviolations.  Starting in 1992, Musmacker served 6 years in prison after pleading guilty tomolesting a 6 year old relative.  For information on free and confidential testing, call thestatewide HIV testing hotline at 800-541-AIDS for English, or 800-223-SIDA for Spanish.  InNassau and Suffolk, you also can call 800-462-6786.  In Suffolk, the county HealthDepartment's sexually transmitted disease unit can be reached at 631-853-2264.  In Nassau,contact the county Health Department's HIV bureau at 516-227-9423.
