Police: Homeless man kidnapped girlfriend from Smithtown hotel

A homeless man was arrested for allegedly kidnapping his girlfriend.

Police say Kenyonne Fleurinay carried the 20-year-old from a room at America's Best Value Inn in Smithtown.

They say the woman tried to escape at a Melville gas station, but couldn't.

Investigators tell News 12 that the victim's family called police to say she was being held against her will.

They say Fleurinay drove to New Jersey before being convinced to return to Suffolk County.

Fleurinay was arrested just before 3 a.m. Monday when a patrol officer spotted his car near exit 65 on the Long Island Expressway.
