MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A former Upper Peninsula priest will be heading to circuit court for a trial on sex crimes he allegedly committed in the 1980s.
Former priest Gary Allen Jacobs, a priest under the Catholic Diocese of Marquette, faces eight counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Originally, Jacobs was charged in January on seven counts of criminal sexual conduct charges in three separate cases that reportedly occurred in Ontonagon and Dickinson counties.
Jacobs was arrested on January 17 in New Mexico.
After two new victims came forward, two additional counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct were filed against Jacobs in March.
Jacobs is scheduled to appear before a Dickinson County judge on a second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge on June 1.
He will be appearing before an Ontonagon County judge on a total of 10 charges as well. That date has not been set.
If convicted, Jacobs faces up to life in prison and a lifetime of electronic monitoring for each of the first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges and up to 15 years in prison for each of the second-degree criminal sexual conduct charges.
Investigators said all victims involved were minors at the time of the incidents.
