SUFFOLK COPS ROLL OUT ‘MOST WANTED’ CAMPAIGN

In an initiative called Operation Clean Sweep, Suffolk County cops will launch a multi-pronged campaign today aimed at nabbing nearly 150 suspects wanted for everything from murder to child pornography.  The people on the list are the ones cops have had the most trouble tracking down.  There are about 1,100 outstanding felony warrants in Suffolk County.  Among the crimes that the 146 people on this list are accused of: murder, manslaughter, rape, robbery, weapons possession and use of a child in a sex act.  Cops are kicking off the campaign with a $9,400 full-page newspaper ad that features a list of the suspects.  They will also distribute 500 countertop displays to area delis and supermarkets with information about how to call Crime Stoppers.  All calls are confidential.  Anyone with information that leads to an arrest could be eligible for a $2,000 reward.  Call 800-220-TIPS.
