Turlock band teacher arrested for third time faces 40 sex crime charges

A former Turlock band teacher accused of child sex crimes will face more charges after being arrested for the third time, authorities said.

Daniel Baudino, 38, turned himself in most recently on Thursday, the Turlock Police Department said in a release on Friday.

Police are investigating several sex crimes he's accused of involving former students between 2015 and August 2019. He was first arrested on Nov. 1, 2021, accused of having had sex with a minor in 2016. He faced nine counts of felonies.

Two additional victims came forward along with investigators finding additional evidence. Baudino was arrested for a second time on Nov. 18, 2021. He faced an additional 10 felony sex crime charges.

Investigators found recorded evidence of these sex acts without the knowledge of the other party, along with a "vast amount of digital evidence that was located and seized during the initial arrest," police said.

In November, he was arrested and booked at the Stanislaus County Jail for one count of possession of child pornography, four counts of contacting a minor for the purposes of sex, five counts of recording sexual activity without consent and 11 counts of using a minor to make child pornography, according to authorities.

On his third arrest, Baudino faces 40 charges related to these crimes. Authorities said 35 of them are felonies and 5 are misdemeanors.

Baudino was a Turlock Junior High and Dennis Earl Elementary School band teacher.

The Turlock Unified School District released a statement following Friday's announcement.

"The news today of additional charges against Mr. Baudino continues to be very disturbing. We are cooperating fully with this investigation and encourage anyone with relevant information to contact Turlock Police Department. Because this is an ongoing personnel matter, we are unable to provide further comment."

He is currently booked in the Stanislaus County jail with a bail of $680,000.

Authorities continue to investigate this case.
