A 30-year-old Cottondale man is under arrest after a 13-year-old acquaintance was found to be pregnant.
Adarius Deandre Nevels was arrested May 15, according to court records made public this week. He is charged with second-degree sexual abuse, second-degree sodomy, and second-degree rape.
The investigation began in mid-May when the Department of Human Resources notified the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office that the young girl was confirmed to be pregnant, according to charging documents. The girl was then taken to authorities for an interview.
The girl detailed for investigators several sexual acts that she said Nevels performed. The suspect was then interviewed by the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit investigators where records state he confessed to sex with the girl.
Nevels on Wednesday remained in the Tuscaloosa County Jail with bonds totaling $75,000.
