SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio youth pastor is in custody after Bexar County officials say he committed child sex crimes.
Clayton Turner, 40, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony, and indecency with a child, a second-degree felony, after officials say the victim, a 12-year-old girl, came forward and reported the incident to her school district.
Officials say the victim claimed Turner touched her inappropriately and sexually assaulted her. The child’s school district then notified authorities around Feb. 28, officials say.
Bexar County investigators began the investigation, and they conducted a forensic interview with the victim. After the interview, officials say they gathered enough information to charge Turner.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said the reason officials are making this case so public is because Turner was found to be a youth pastor at several different places of worship and they suspect there are more victims, given his access to youths at his places of employment.
“We’re hoping there aren’t any more victims out there, but we know full well that there may be," said Salazar.
The names of the places of worship have not yet been released.
Turner also has prior charges, including a non-violent misdemeanor arrest, per officials. He was taken to the Bexar County Jail.
We’ll bring more details as they become available.
