MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS, Manhattan (PIX11) – A man accused of sexually assaulting two young women near a Columbia University housing complex was arrested this week, police said on Thursday.

Police arrested 46-year-old Ramon Rotestan in connection with a rape in an elevator of a residential building in the Bronx.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. Monday. Surveillance video from the NYPD shows a suspect believed to be Rotestan following a woman into a building near Bolton Street before following that woman into an elevator, where police say the woman was raped.

SEATTLE — The effort to end the rape kit backlog has been a focus for Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson, whose office runs the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative.

Eight years ago, Washington had more than 10,000 untested rape kits.

“We had a number of kits sitting on shelves for a number of reasons,” state Representative Tina Orwall said in March.

Lawmakers like Orwall pushed for change, and progress has been made with thousands of kits tested, but there is still plenty of work to do.

(BCN) – San Rafael police on Tuesday announced that a sting operation launched by them and several other agencies had nabbed two men suspected of attempting to solicit minors for lewd purposes, otherwise known as underage prostitution.

Authorities conducted their six-hour operation at a San Rafael hotel on Friday. Ads were placed online on sites that “typically look for women who are offering sexual services for pay,” police said. Law enforcement specifically targeted anyone looking for female juveniles who might be trafficked and buyers seeking minors.

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office has arrested and charged a man with a number of child sex crimes.

Thomas Antonio Foskey, 35, of Hines Farm Road in Jacksonville, was arrested on April 22. He was taken before an Onslow County Magistrate, and charged with:

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) – Nearly 30 Arizona residents were arrested during a large-scale undercover operation targeting child sex crimes and human trafficking.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, the sting lasted several days last month and was called “Operation April’s Fools.”

The PPD said it worked with the police departments from Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, Glendale and Surprise along with the Arizona Department of Public Safety, FBI, Homeland Security and Arizona Attorney Generals Office.
