CONVICTED CHILD RAPIST OUT ON PAROLE

Gerald Amirault, a 50 year old Massachusetts man convicted of raping eight youngsters in one ofthe nation's most lurid and bitterly disputed child molestation cases, has been freed on parole, 18years after he was convicted. He was found guilty in 1986 of abusing children at his family'ssuburban day-care center in Malden, Mass., and was sentenced to 30 to 40 years in prison. Hismother and sister were convicted in a separate trial. The Amirault's argued that they were victimsof sex abuse hysteria that swept the country in the 1980s.
