COURTS ‘DON’T TAKE CHILD PORN SERIOUSLY’

Courts continue to underplay the seriousness of child pornography, child welfare experts have warned after the Family Court last month ordered an 8 year old boy to live with his stripper mother, despite her partner's obsession with pornographic images of young girls.  Family Court judge Tim Carmody's decision on January 16 to grant the mother custody over the child's grandparents, in part because her boyfriend's collection of 350,000 pornographic images and 6,400 videos focused on young girl's and not boys, left welfare advocates aghast.  The boyfriend was jailed in 2005 for his massive collection of child pornography, but Justice Carmody found him to be remorseful.
