JERRY SANDUSKY SENTENCED TO AT LEAST 30 YEARS IN PRISON

Nassau County Executive Ed Mango announced on Tuesday an effort to prevent sexual abuse inyouth sports.  At a news conference outside his office in Mineola, he said, In light of therecent scandals that have shocked the nation, it is imperative that we...have structure in placesuch as leadership policies and practical skills in youth-oriented activities to prevent andaddress abuse, and to ensure everyone knows what to do to keep our children safe.  He openeda symposium aimed at youth coaches, trainers, athletic directors and school superintendents. The effort came several months after the Penn State scandal, in which former football assistantcoach Jerry Sandusky has been accused of sexually abusing 10 boys over 15 years at the university'ssummer camps. 
Sandusky, 68, was sentenced to at least 30 years in prison, effectively a life sentence, inthe child sexual abuse scandal that brought shame to Penn State.
