MAN, 18, CHARGED IN RAPE, ROBBERY IN NORTH BABYLON

Derric Clancy, an 18-year-old Deer Park man, was arrested and charged with the midday robbery and rape of a North Babylon grocery store employee in a woman's bathroom at the store.  Employees at the Pathmark store on Route 231 worried about their missing colleague and went to find her.  Clancy was apprehended in the bathroom and held until police arrived.  Clancy apparently followed the woman when she went to the store's second-floor bathroom about 12:30 p.m. yesterday.  He turned off the light and told her he had a knife and asked for money.  She gave him $55 and then he raped her.  No knife was found.  He has been charged with first-degree rape, first-degree robbery and first-degree sodomy, all felonies.
