MAN CONVICTED IN THREE SEX ATTACKS

Robert Lee Gaines, 29, also known as Bart Roman, was convicted of sexually attacking three teenage girls in 2 1/2 hours as they headed home after school two years ago.  Gaines was found guilty of first-degree attempted rape and three counts of first-degree sex abuse for the attacks.  According to Newsday, he is already serving 140 years to life for two rapes in Brooklyn and now faces an additional 100 years to life in prison for the Freeport assaults because he is considered a persistent violent felony offender.  Sentencing is scheduled for April 21st.
