MAN SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR SOLICITING OVER INTERNET

Douglas I. Scott, 34, thought he was communicating with a 12 year old boy online, instead he was actually communicating with a police officer.  He was arranging a sexual encounter with the boy.  Scott has been sentenced to 12 years in prison Tuesday, two more years than prosecutors had sought.  According to the Chicago Tribune, Scott was a former security monitor and assistant athletic trainer at Elk Grove High School when he was arrested in 1997 for possessing child pornography that he downloaded from the Internet.  He lost his job and was sentenced

to 30 months of felony probation and ordered to undergo sex offender counseling.  He was convicted in December of attempted indecent solicitation of a child, attempted predatory criminal sexual assault and attempted criminal sexual abuse.
