| Offenders Required to Register: |
- Any adult residing in Louisiana who has been convicted of the perpetration or attempted perpetration of or conspiracy to commit any sex offense defined in R.S. 15:541(24) or any criminal offense against a victim who is a minor defined in R.S. 15:541(12). This includes convictions under the laws of another state or military, territorial, foreign, tribal, or federal law comparable to those of Louisiana offenses.
- Out-of-state offenders who establish a residence in Louisiana.
- Any juvenile who was transferred to adult court and has pled guilty or has been convicted after trial including out of state convictions of R.S. Second Degree kidnapping (when the Bill of Information alleges that the victim was under 18 years of age), R.S. 14:42 First Degree/Aggravated Rape, R.S. 14:42.1 Second Degree/Forcible Rape (without regard to the age of the victim) according to Children’s Code Article 857 and Children’s Code Article 305.
- R.S. 15:542(A)(3) Any juvenile 14 years of age or older at the time of offense who is adjudicated delinquent on or after January 1, 2008 for the perpetration or attempt perpetration of or conspiracy to commit the following offenses; R.S. 14:42 First Degree/Aggravated Rape, 14:42.1 Second Degree/Forcible Rape, 14:43.2 Second Degree Sexual Battery, 14:44 Aggravated Kidnapping of a child under the age of thirteen (13), 14:44.1 Second Degree Kidnapping of a child under te age of thirteen (13), 14:89.1(A)(2) Aggravated Crime Against Nature involving circumstances defined as an “Aggravated Offense” in R.S 15:541(1), and 14:89.1(A)(1) Aggravated Crime Against Nature.
- Any non-resident full or part-time workers, with or without compensation, who would be required to register in their state of residence, shall register with the appropriate law enforcement agency under R.S. 15:542.
- Any non-resident full or part-time student who would be required to register in their state of residence must register with the sheriff of the parish where they attend school.
- Any non- resident offender required to register in the state of residence who lodges in Louisiana for more than 7 consecutive days must provide his lodging information to the sheriff of the parish of his employment or school. R.S. 15:542.1.3(C) and (D); R.S 15:542(C)(1)(n).

Name and any aliases used by the offender, Physical Address(es) of residence, Telephone numbers, Name and physical address of place of employment and schools, Two (2) forms of proof of residence for each address provided, Crime of conviction, date, and place, and if known by the offender, court/jurisdiction, docket number, statute, and sentence imposed, Current photograph, Fingerprints, palm prints, and DNA sample, Description of every motorized vehicle registered to or operated by the offender including license plate, VIN, and copy of driver’s license and/or ID card (This information MUST be provided BEFORE operation of the vehicle), Social security number and date of birth, Description of physical characteristics, Email address(es), online screen name, or other online identifiers including any static IP addresses used by the offender to communicate on the internet, Temporary lodging information for any place the offender plans to stay for 7 or more days, which must be provided at least 3 days before departure, Travel and immigration documents for any international travel, which must be provided at least 21 days in advance. |

Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Louisiana State Police, Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information, State sex Offender and Child Predator Registry, any sheriff’s office in the parish(es) of residence, and the police department of the local municipality. |
| Timeframe for Registration: |
- Initial registration following conviction, if the offender is not immediately incarcerated or confined, he shall register in person with the sheriff of the parish of conviction within 3 business days.
- If the offender intends to ultimately reside in a different parish than conviction, he must then appear in person for registration with the sheriff of that parish within 3 business days.
- Offenders immediately incarcerated upon conviction will be pre-registered within 10 days of release by the authority having custody of the offender, who shall send the information to the Bureau. The offender must report to the sheriff of the parish where his pre-registration address is located, and the chief of police (if applicable) within 3 days of release from confinement.
- If the offender intends to ultimately reside in a different parish than provided in pre-registration, he must appear in person for registration with the sheriff of that parish within 3 business days.

| Duration of Requirement: |
- 15 years - Annual in-person renewals on the anniversary date of initial registration for any offense requiring registration other than those defined in R.S. 15:541 as “aggravated offenses” or “sexual offenses” against a victim who is a minor.
- 25 years - Semi-annual in-person renewals, one should remain the date of initial registration, and the other should occur 6 months later for offenses defined in R.S. 15:541(25) as “sexual offenses” against a victim who is a minor.
- Lifetime – Quarterly in-person renewals, one should remain on the anniversary date of initial registration, and the others 3 months apart for offenses defined in R.S. 15:541(1) as “aggravated offenses” including some “child predator” offenses defined as criminal offenses against a victim who is a minor in R.S. 15:541(12).

| Penalties for Non-Compliance: |
R.S. 15:542.1.4 any person who fails to timely register and/or renew registration, provide any information required, provide proof of residence, provide notification of change of address, or complete community notifications as required shall upon first conviction, be fined not more than $1000 and imprisoned at hard labor for not less than 2 nor more than 10 years, without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence. Upon second or subsequent conviction, be fined not more than $3000 and imprisoned with hard labor for not less than 5 years nor more than 20 years without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. |
| Access to Information: |
Criminal justice agencies shall release relevant and necessary information regarding sex offenders, child predators, and sexually violent predators to the public when release of the information is necessary for public protection. The identity of a victim, or information leading to the identity of a victim, shall not be released. Louisiana State Police has a Sex Offender Website with photos and conviction information available to the public. |
