NEW JERSEY: RAGE AT NJ GIRL’S SELF-PORN
New York Post/Dan Mangan
Maureen Kanka, the mother of the girl whose sex slaying led to Megan's Law, is blasting thearrest of a 14 year old suburban New Jersey girl who got hit with child porn charges for postingnude photos of herself on the Internet. The crime could require the girl to register as a sexoffender under Megan's Law. This shouldn't fall under Megan's Law in any way, shape orform, said Kanka, of New Jersey, whose 7 year old daughter, Megan, was murdered by atwice-convicted sex offender in 1994. She should have an intervention and counseling, because the only person she exploited was herself. Megan's Law...it's for sex offenders, shesaid. These kids aren't sex offenders. The girl is charged with child-porn possessionand distribution. Authorities are looking into charging people who knowingly committed acrime, such as downloading the girl's photo, but no one who accidentally viewed the pictures byaccessing the girl's online profile on MySpace.
