Jonathan Rees-Williams, a 55 year old former choirmaster at a royal chapel, was convicted yesterday of a series of indecent assaults on children, one as young as 9. He quit his post as organist and master of the choristers at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle in 2002, molested a series of children over a 14 year period from the mid-1970s. None of the allegations dated from his time at Windsor. Rees-Williams abused his young victims in a cathedral organ loft, a church crypt, his home, on buses and on a train. After the verdict, police announced they had found 127 pornographic images of children on his two computers. He ten pleaded guilty to one charge of possessing indecent images of children. He will be sentenced July 26.
