Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating an incident reported by an 8year old boy in Shirley on Monday, July 14, at 3:34 p.m.  The boy was skateboarding onBroadway in Shirley when a van driven by a white male swerved toward him and slowed down.  Thedriver reached out and tried to grab the boy, but was unsuccessful and drove away.  The van isdescribed as a full-size Ford, faded white color, with V8 written on the front driver and passengersides.  The van has two rear windows and a broken left taillight.  The driver isdescribed as a white male, clean shaven with short gray hair and greenish-brown eyes.  he waswearing a brown and blue shire.  Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked tocall the Seventh Squad at 852-8752 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.  All calls will bekept confidential.
