STATE PLACES GIRL IN HOME OF SEX OFFENDER

William Shaw, a convicted sex offender, has been charged with sexually assaulting a 14 year oldgirl placed in his home by the state child protection agency. The Division for Children, Youth andFamilies and the state Parole Board knew he was on parole for felonious sexual assault when theyplaced the girl in his home. New Hampshire law prohibits sex offenders from working or volunteeringwith children. He molested the girl three times over as three week period in November/December1997. She was originally placed in Shaw's home because her guardian was unable to care for her andthe girl is related to Shaw's wife.
