SUZANNE LYALL: NEW YORK

Suzanne Lyall was last seen Monday, March 2, 1998.  She was seen getting off a CDTA bus at Collins Circle, on the University at Albany Uptown Campus.  In order to bring something good out of this tragedy, her parents Doug and Mary Lyall have asked that the Assault and Abduction Free School Zone Bill be passed in their daughter's memory.  Assembly Bill 7078-C, nicknamed Suzanne's Bill, passed unanimously in the New York Senate, bus has yet to be brought up to a vote in the State Assembly.  The Assault and Abduction Free School Zone Bill would increase penalties for felony assault and abductions committed on or near school grounds and child care facilities, following the precedent of the popular and effective Drug Free School Zone Law.  The Bill has not been passed into law because Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver has refused to bring it up for a vote in the Assembly.
