WILKES-BARRE — A Clarks Summit man’s cooperation with Luzerne County detectives combined with intellectual and physical disabilities earned him a reduced sentence for possessing and sharing child sexual abuse materials.

Daniel Kopetchny, 41, was arrested in November 2020 by county detectives and Pittston police, members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and state police Northeast Computer Crime Unit, after investigating a cyber tip he uploaded a video via Facebook Messenger. At the time, Kopetchny was residing on South Main Street, Pittston.

A Texas man faces the possibility of significant time behind bars over the alleged abduction of a 14-year-old Utah girl earlier this week.

Dec. 29 (UPI) — Commanders will no longer be involved in military sexual harassment or sexual assault investigations under a new federal law named for a murdered Fort Hood soldier that goes into effect Saturday.

NORTON, Kan. (KAKE) – A former Kansas City school resource officer was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison for child sex crimes and rape.
Kansas Attorney General said Mark Scheetz was sentenced for two Jessica’s Law counts of aggravated criminal sodomy with a child younger than 14 and two counts of rape. Scheetz was sentenced to life in prison and he will not be eligible for parole for at least 50 years.

A Junction City man was found guilty on 22 separate charges, including 21 felony sex crimes, in Linn County Circuit Court on Friday.
Michael Ray Long, 36, was found guilty of 10 counts of first-degree sexual abuse, five counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse, three counts of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, three counts of first-degree sodomy and one count of strangulation.
