Cooper Helps Save Statewide Program That Protects Kids Against Internet Crimes

A national network of coordinated task forces dedicated to investigating, prosecuting, and developing effective responses to internet crimes against children nearly lost an effective key program.

Thanks to Assemblyman Jim Cooper (D-Elk Grove), who secured $5 million in state funds, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program (ICAC) stays in operation.

Police: Norwood day care worker arrested for child pornography; 12-year-old victim attended facility

Police say a Norwood day care worker was arrested on child pornography charges and that one child at the facility was a victim.

The NYPD says Silfredo Castillo Martinez worked at Lina’s Garden Day Care for more than 10 years before he was arrested earlier this month.

Idaho man’s ‘traumatizing and inexcusable’ sex crimes earn him at least 20 years in prison

BOISE (Idaho Statesman) — An Idaho man was sentenced to at least 20 years in prison after he stalked several teenage girls at Ada County parks in 2021, the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday.

Upon Kyle C. Baxter’s arrest, he was found to be in possession of “hundreds of sexually exploitative images and videos of minors.”

Man arrested, accused of sexually harassing child walking home from school in Chino

May 26—A San Bernardino man was arrested after allegedly making lewd gestures while following a child walking home from school in Chino in his pickup truck, police announced Wednesday, May 25.

Florence man, 67, among 11 arrested in online child-sex sting

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A 67-year-old Florence man was among 11 people arrested in a recent multi-agency online sting operation aimed at potential child sexual predators, authorities said.

Robert Mitchum Nichols was charged with criminal solicitation of a minor and second-degree attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, which conducted the investigation along with the Lexington Police Department, the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office and numerous other law-enforcement agencies from across the state.
