A 29-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after admitting to raping a 12-year-old, his second sex offense with a child.  Justin M. Kimble, who said he was homeless at the time of arrest, pleaded guilty to one count of rape, a first-degree felony, Tuesday in Marion County Common Pleas Court. On January 24, 2019, a Lafayette Parish jury convicted 41 year old Donald Griffin of First Degree Rape of a ten year old girl. Judge John Trahan presided over the case. As a result of the rape Griffin impregnated the child, who is currently mother to her one-and-a- half year old son. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Royale Colbert.

Griffin’s sentencing is scheduled for January 31, 2019. Griffin

NYACK, NY — Seven New York Hospitals, including Montefiore Nyack Hospital, have settled with the state Attorney General’s Office after an investigation into unlawful bills to rape survivors for forensic rape examinations.

Under the terms of the agreements, the hospitals will implement written policies to ensure that sexual assault survivors do not receive bills for their rape examinations, provide full restitution to any improperly billed sexual assault survivors, and pay costs.

Saying the Diocese of Rockville Centre must educate all who work for it to the ‘harms of child abuse and what we must do to prevent it, Bishop William Murphy is asking all Catholic Church employees and volunteers to attend special training seminars.  The Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, adopted last year by American bishops in Dallas as a response to the sex abuse scandal, requires all dioceses to institute these safe environment types of programs.
