A former North Hempstead budget official pleaded guilty yesterday to having sex with a 16-year-oldgirl who had told him by e-mail that she was 18, prosecutors said. Owen Sinclair, 46, of Oceansidepleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child. He had faced more serious statutory rapecharges for having sex with the girl twice at a Lynbrook motel, said Eric Phillips, a spokesman forNassau District Attorney Kathleen Rice. A Springfield man was arraigned yesterday on charges that he molested three young girls in 1964,in what is believed to be the oldest case ever brought in Fairfax County. Two women, now in theirforties, came forward last year and made the allegations against a retired mail carrier. There isno statue of limitations in Virginia.

Leslie Tucker, 62, a former mail carrier from Crete, has been convicted of molesting young girls along his Park Forest postal route and sentenced to 14 years in prison during an emotional hearing that included statements from the parents of his victims and words of remorse from Tucker himself.  Before sentencing Tucker spoke out in his defense saying, God and Jesus had changed the lives of vile people, including him.  He also apologized to the victims and their families.
